IP Patent Analyst

Provides essential, highly specialized client and attorney support regarding all aspects of legal filings and administration.

Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and file moderately complex documents, tasks, and/or projects in specialized area
• Respond to moderately complex requests from outside entities applying knowledge of different jurisdictions (e.g., government agencies, vendors, outside counsel, embassies)
• Conduct research and moderately complex analysis of legal issues
• Communicate with internal business clients and external vendors as needed within the area of specialization
• Secure necessary signature/authorizations and approved documentation
• Draft related correspondence for attorneys with less research and revisions required
• Create and maintain internal due dates and deadlines
• IP (File Patent and/or Trademark):

a. File patent and trademark applications in the U.S and foreign patent offices with increased understanding of rules and regulations

b. Compose written responses to PTO (Patent Trademark Office) communications (e.g., invitations to correct defects, informal drawings, declarations)
• Other incidental duties

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience or

  • Minimum 7 years of related experience


Additional Skills:
• Proven expertise in MS Office Suite (e.g., Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) required; Experience in USPTO-EFS, and eCounsel, iManage, IPDAS, corporate reporting software and docketing software preferred
• Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control
• Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and investigative skills
• Solid knowledge and understanding of Edwards’ policies, procedures, and guidelines relevant to legal
• Solid knowledge of laws, rules, forms and procedures of the International Patent System, including the International Bureau of WIPO (IB), CTM, and individual foreign country offices, as well as and foreign filing best practices for patents and trademarks
• Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
• Strict attention to detail
• Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work in a team environment, including inter-departmental teams and representing the department on specific projects
• Ability to build productive internal/external working relationships
